AGM for 2015-2016 in the books


TORONTO, April 22, 2016 – The University of the Philippines Alumni Association – Toronto (“UPAA Toronto”) held its Annual General Meeting at the North York Civic Centre on April 15, 2016. Chryell Samson, Mayrose Salvador, Diana Roldan, Desh Santos, and Melanie Trillo, join as new Council Members, along with Alice Herrera -- was re-elected as UPAA Toronto President -- Rosemarie Nagallo, Dhing Simbulan, Raffy Fabregas, Michelle Montojo, Danny Vismanos, Delfin Palileo, and Marie Chris Rosali. Fred Gamboa continues to serve Council in the role of Immediate Past President/Ex-Officio, and as Chair of the Council of Past Presidents.

What’s Next?

This year hopes to be another exciting year for UPAA Toronto members. The group will have its next Kapihan at a special Mother's Day event the Rogers Centre on May 8, 2016, to watch the Toronto Blue Jays play the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the summer, UPAA Toronto will again be participating in the annual Philippines Colleges and Universities Alumni Associations' summerfest, followed by a group picnic featuring dragon boat racing along the Humber River, and hopes to host a fundraising concert event featuring the world-renowned UP Concert Choir.

UPAA Toronto, established in 1977, seeks to foster communication and interaction among its members by providing social and cultural programs and events, and endeavors to involve its members more effectively in the activities of UP and the community.

A fifteen-member Council formulates UPAA Toronto’s policies and programs, and Executive Officers implement and administer its events and day-to-day affairs.
