UPAA Toronto welcomes new prez & council

During UPAAT's May 30th "Kapihan" at Barrio Fiesta, newly appointed and fellow UPian Consul General Rose Prospero swore in UPAA Toronto's newly elected President & Council Members:

PRESIDENT : Alice Herrera, PhD

VICE - PRESIDENT : Rose Marie Nagallo

SECRETARY : Armando Simbulan

AUDITOR : Beth Vasquez

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER : Rafael Fabregas

While speaking of her own UP experience, Consul General Prospero remarks that "Our UP education gave us an independent mind, cause-oriented."

During the festivities, Alice Herrera introduced a new "Kapihan" segment called "Chikahan" which everyone welcomed enthusiastically.

Gracing the occasion and lending their unwavering support were several past UPAAT presidents like Bay Bernabe, Fred Gamboa, Maripi Leynes, Geny Toribio, and Joe Zagala.

As always, UPians in Toronto enjoyed the sumptuous spread prepared by Barrio Fiesta (if you missed this month's "Kapihan," join us in our next one!).

Also in keeping with our tradition, we opened our event with both our Canadian and Philippine national anthems, followed by the UP anthem, "Far Though We Wonder."

Finally, we shared more than a few laughs over Dr. Mario Andres' iconic shirt...sure brought back some (not so) fond memories!
